Sitges City Council
A new operational, updated, and corporate brand for the town of Sitges and its City Council.
The Sitges City Council carries out a complex task, promoting countless activities of all kinds. This work needs to be perceived as a whole (from an official letter or a building permit to a municipal vehicle or a cultural event).
To achieve this, we have updated the brand with a graphic identity and a visual system applicable to every communication touchpoint — recognizable, identifiable, and easy to apply — enhancing the multifaceted nature of the work carried out by the Sitges City Council.
We conducted a rigorous process with an initial analysis phase in which we studied the values the new brand should convey:
Origin, Tradition and Culture
The new identity draws on the elements that form part of the essence of Sitges: the “Blanca Subur,” the blue stripes of the fishermen’s houses, the Town Hall building—constructed on the site where the castle once stood—and the distinctive Sitges Blue, which acts as a unifying element of the visual identity.
The Present and Future Challenges
The new brand also projects the town’s present and future. Sitges aspires to establish itself as an audiovisual benchmark in southern Europe, hosting film productions through the Sitges Film Office and internationally renowned events such as the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia and the NEXT Festival of innovation and communication.
At the same time, the brand incorporates the strength of the tourism sector—restaurants, hospitality, and retail—the commitment to sustainability and healthy living (Biosphere Destination Gold), as well as economic promotion, innovation, and the major celebrations that define the town’s identity, such as Carnival and Pride.
Traditional Heraldry
A modern and functional brand, aligned with its origins: a town crown, a castle with three towers, an overlaid Greek cross, and the closing caironada.
In addition to communication values, we have created a restyled brand with great implementation ease.
A distinctive color palette has been defined — the “Sitges Blue” — along with a visual system inspired by the blue stripes of fishermen’s houses, bringing tradition into modernity. We also selected a typeface that meets the challenges of uniqueness while ensuring usability and readability.
Finally, we designed multiple applications that encompass the entire brand universe of the Sitges City Council.
All this work will be compiled in a comprehensive brand manual currently in development.
